SPORT SHOES, CONSUMPTION AND EXPORT INCREASING



The footwear market shows trends that see the segment of sports shoes growing, both as regards the export of Made in Italy, and for the domestic market. And Micam, the international footwear review, scheduled from 16 to 19 February in the pavilions of the Fiera di Milano in Rho, re-presents, after the success achieved at the debut, Players Discrict, a special area designed to offer a new space to the world of footwear sports and outdoor.

In the first nine months of 2019, according to the latest data from Confindustria Moda, Italian families spent 3.4% more on sports shoes than in the same period of 2018, for a total value of approximately € 750 million and 15.4 million pairs sold (+ 3%). This is a confirmation after the increases of more than 5% recorded in 2018. Istat data for Italian sports shoe exports are also characterized by positive dynamics:

In fact, in the first nine months of 2019, Italy exported 11.8 million pairs for 645.4 million euros (with trend increases of 9.5% and 6.7% respectively). In short, together with that of sneakers, the sports sector is the only one to highlight an increase in sales on the domestic market, which has been stagnating for a long time.

During Micam last September, the first edition of Players District, sports shoes had been among the most popular at the fair, representing 8.5% of the visitors' interests. compared to the typologies, 16% of the interest in this sector was concentrated on "Trekking and outdoor shoes" (37% for men and 37% for women).
